Abstract
The development of the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union (CSDP) has allowed the EU to become more visible and more present on the international scene as a global actor. However, what are the principles which make the EU to act in the crisis management? Is there a common strategic concept specific to the EU which would present a common vision of the objectives and the operational needs for EU operations under the CSDP? The purpose of this article is to present the influence of the CSDP for the development of the strategic evolution of the EU. The article will be divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the convergence of strategic cultures of EU Member States, while in the second part the author analyzes the impact of the European Security Strategy on the strategic evolution of the EU. The author concludes that the Common Security and Defence Policy of the EU contributes to the development of a strategic culture specific to the EU that will eventually lead to the development of the common strategic concept.
